Wine tasting Linos 2020

While of course, Cyprus is one of the oldest wine producing countries in the world, it has only been in the last 20 years or so that Cyprus wines have gained recognition on the international stage with a number of innovative new concepts. Earlier in 2020, Linos winery created Cyprus first ever blue wine after 4 years of effort. Blue wine has been around internationally for a few years now but this is the first time it has been produced in Cyprus using traditional Cypriot grapes. Mediterranean Blu is made from 99% Xinisteri and 1% pure grape juice from Alicante and Mataro grapes. Whilst blue might not be the colour we usually associate with wines, there is nothing artifical here, the surprising azure colour is created by the colour pigment anthocyanin which is found in the skin of red wine grapes.

Mediterranean Blu is refreshing, sweet, fruity and light with 12.5% alcohol, served chilled this is the perfect summer tipple to be enjoyed on its own or to accompany light dishes, salads, sushi and fruit.

The very essence and hue of the Mediterranean in a glass! Mediterranean Blu can be purchased from the winery and is also served in a number of restaurants and bars around the island.
