Over the last few years it has been a pleasure to watch the steady transformation of Limassol’s historic centre. With buildings being restored and repurposed and the creation of the marina and old port complex, the area has become a buzzing hub of life with a fabulous choice of shops, cafés, restaurants and bars.
The latest project to open its doors is the Agora, formerly the Municipal Market. Located just off the end of Saripolou, generations of housewives used to come here to buy fresh produce and it was with great sadness that we saw it close a few years ago.
Maintaining its traditional exterior, a sight which has been a local landmark for decades, the interior has been entirely transformed into a contemporary multi-purpose space. Where before traders sold farm vegetables and fresh fish, now you can choose from a selection of stylish eateries, indulge in a spot of retail therapy and also buy traditional goods and local treats in the old market hall.
A fabulous roof top bar affords views over the surrounding area and the mezzanin floor offers space for events and meetings. Also on the mezzanine the recently opened Kesh Morrocan-style loung bar; Kesh is where locals and visitors can tap in the Moroccan roots and experience an atmosphere like nothing before say the managers. Flavours inspired by ancient cultures, including honey, cinnamon, nutmeg and passionfruit are paired with unique spirits to create artisanal cocktails like our signature cocktails Voodoo and Rose Water Gin.
In terms of entertainment, AGORA will offer an elaborate and unique children’s playground area, which will offer a “drop off” service, where parents will be able to leave their children to play and be entertained in a safe, pleasant environment while shopping, eating, and enjoying the services on offer including hairdresser’s, nail salon and massage as well as just relaxing with friends for a drink.
